Arch Rock on the Arch Rock Nature Trail at Joshua Tree National Park, CA Instead, we were surrounded by a desert landscape and an alien world of boulders. I was expecting a grand entrance, like many of the Arches have at Arches National Park. I must admit, I didn’t know what to look for when I hiked to Arch Rock at Joshua Tree National Park. White Tank Campground, Site #9, Entrance to the Arch Rock Nature Trail Arch Rock is nestled amongst a sea of boulders While not wheelchair accessible, Arch Rock is super easy to find and the hike is a lot of fun, even for the novice hiker. Arch Rock is located a little ways down the Arch Rock Nature Trail on the right. Once you park, hike up to campsite #9 (pictured below). We found parking near the front of the campground near the restroom. Turn left when you see a sign for the White Tank Campground. From the north, head down Park Boulevard and then turn left onto Pinto Basin Road. Directions to Arch Rock are fairly straightforward. Not so. The new parking area and trail make the round trip closer to 1 mile instead of. The trail has been extended to reach that parking area which provides many more spots than the small parking area that used to provide parking for the trail. The new parking for the Arch Rock trailhead is no longer in White Tank Campground, but now at Twin Tanks Parking Area, very close to the campground. UPDATE: Joshua Tree National Park reached out to me and they have expanded a parking lot to make seeing Arch Rock easier!
